HippoCampus

HippoCampus is an educational site for secondary teachers. "Teaching with the power of Digital Media" is their slogan and I am very impressed with the layout and content. This is not just a site filled with games, but rather with lesson planning tools and educational content.

Use materials found here for display during guided instruction or on a computer station for tutorials. Students can work in a group or independently and the activities are self-checking and self-pacing.

Content includes: Algebra, Geometry, Government, Biology, Calculus, Environmental Science, Physics, Psychology, Religion, Statistics, and US History. (The Algebra and Calculus sections are also presented in Spanish!)

Into The Book

Into the Book

What is the hardest part about learning to read for our students? Higher-level comprehension strategies! Absolutely. Into The Book is an interactive reading comprehension site. Geared for K-4 students, but I believe it is more appropriate for 2nd-5th.

Areas covered include: Making Connections, Visualizing, Summarizing, Synthesizing, Prior Knowledge, Evaluating, Questioning, and Inferring. Best of all...it is completely FREE! That should make some ELA teachers very happy!

Xtra Math

What: XtraMath is a free, web-based program for teachers, parents, and students. This program
helps students master math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The
program sends reports via email to parents and teachers.

How to implement: Xtra Math allows teachers to quickly set up a class and students may log in to
the program at home or at school. Use it as a free choice center, review
activity, or parent/school connection.

I'm including a short video that will give you more information about the program.
